My wife has transitioned from conservative to liberal over the course of the past 5-6 years. She is pretty easily influenced by those who she is impressed by and many of our good friends are liberals. I'm a right winger in most aspects, but her father is a right wing nutter and has pushed her to the left with his daily facebook posts and rudeness to many of our friends.

It's been a challenge to our relationship. I have issues with some of our friends stances, but I keep my mouth shut when they go on their tirades and just talk things out with her when we get home. I'm cautiously optimistic about moving her back to center right in a decade or two.

Politics never came up much when I was younger and active.

If I were dating somebody now, though, and my date revealed being an unremorseful Trump-voter as we headed down the I-5 to some rave or restaurant, I'd be tempted to push the bitch out of the car at 75 mph.

Well Trump girl was not interested in a second date. Which is fine. I kinda came to the conclusion that I could not be with someone who is a hardcore Trump supporter, thinking he is totally brilliant. And has no ability to have an open mind about non-political programming just because it comes from NPR.

I could be comfortable with a moderate who went Trump and has an open mind to other experiences.

I just wanted the chance to fuck the Trump right out of this other gal. Alas I did not have that mojo.

Damnit and you just walked away? You can't do that, you have to erupt like a volcano. Let her know that when you are rich and famous, she will RUE the day she screwed you over. That you are the alpha of all alpha males and this was her one chance to hitch her wagon to a shooting star. Then tell her that you never really liked her anyways, she isn't very attractive and Trump is an asshat.

Anyway that is the way I believe Trump would handle it. This girl is a Trump fan so such an outburst might just impress her.

I would think with concern with dating a fervent Trump supporter is more than talking politics. The fervent Trump supporters I've me seen to be devoid form reality, highly conspiratorial, easily manipulated and incapable of self thought. Those don't seem to be qualities of a life partner. Now, if she said something like he's a complete moron, but he's going to cut my taxes in half.. well..

Seems somehow worse that someone would vote a certain way, affecting millions/billions, because they're personally just a selfish cynic. Stupidity seems slightly less unattractive than that, and if they're easily manipulated, then one could try "educate" them. Harder to undo selfishness.

Nah, you can't "date" stupid. Sex with stupid? a different story. Both are bad. But I value intelligence, so, I'd rather have intelligence and self interested cynicism than "stupid". you can't fix stupid. The latter you can have discussions with. Btw, have you ever had a discussion with a fervent Trump supporter? If God came down and told them they were wrong, they'd call God a liar.

People where I live only like trump for the memes. When I lived in the us I was with a woman for 3 years who voted for bush, and I couldn't get over it. But I would have thought even less of her had she only voted for him because of a perceived tax advantage; she was Catholic/dumb and many of the devout are forced to vote Republican because of abortion or generally because they're regarded as the party of god.

We are both apolitical. Don't get involved in the news or discussions on politics.

I'm moderate and my GF is fairly right winged. We don't ever talk much about politics.
