Where does WinXP store the wallpaper photo?

If you right-click on a picture on the internet and tell it to set it as your wallpaper, where does Windows XP store that picture (or do they simply save the link?). Thanks.

i think they store it in your temp directory,but if its not there i would just take a screen shot and edit it to how you want the picture if that is what you are trying to do

My XP Pro puts the wallpaper image files in \Windows. When I right click to save an image as *.*, I stash it anywahere temporarily. Then I put it into a format Windows likes for wallpaper, and put it in C:\Windows. Then go to display, Appearance, and make it the background picture . . . a.k.a. wallpaper.

It's a bitmap called "internet explorer wallpaper"

Substitute "brian" for the name of your computer.

At least for Win2000 - but it shouldn't matter what version.
