Where does the misconception come from that European cities are safe?

I am willing to take that bet.... what is the wager?? Anyway u can send my winning to me, I won:
You won nothing. Did you read my post?

"I would be willing to bet there are more blacks, asians, arabs, and hispanics in Michigan than in the whole of Europe."

Yet you proclaim victory based on statistics that bare no relevance to each other. "Foreign population" certainly includes non-German "whites", it doesn't implicitly mean "non-whites", and you gave not an iota of information on the races I specifically mentioned; blacks, asians, hispanics. I will amend my prior statement to exclude Arabs and Asians, because statistically the Arab and Asian population is very law-abiding, with the exception of some Asian street gangs in certain regions, but overall it cannot be said that Arabs and Asians commit a disproportionate amount of violent crimes, as is especially true of blacks and hispanics.
unless you have statistics, don't assume one way or the other. Besides, what does that matter in the end? Sounds racist to me. Maybe they don't have as many problems with minorities for other reasons, like not as many illegal immigrants etc?
It matters because the vast majority of our violent crimes are disproportionately committed by blacks and hispanics.

In the UK, their violent crimes are disproportionately committed by blacks; immigrants from the West Indies and Jamaica in particular.

It matters because if you compare US 'white' crime rate across the board (urban, suburban, rural) with Europe's 'white' crite rate (urban, suburban, rural), they are virtually identical.

The disparity comes almost entirely from the disproportionate contribution to violent crime made by certain non-white populations. I.E. we have more violent crime because we have far more non-whites who commit a disproportionate amount of violent crimes.

Hah. Lawyers don't use books any more. Too cumbersome, not searchable, and out of date after six months.

I wonder where you get that information from.
Damn, SnapIT and others must have gone to lunch and I'm the last one standing trying to hold brothers off.[/quote]
Personal experience, which as we all know is more important than any annoying "facts." 😉

VFAA, you're still attacking the man and the source. Disprove the argument with sources of your own, or capitulate.

LOL I'm not attacking anyone.

But I almost got a heart attack if Scipionix was indeed a lawyer. I must leave for now, so I don't get sued for something 😛.

You claim you are not attacking, yet you again attack him in the very same post.

You can beat them AO, but you can't bet them to admit it. Ever. They don't understand how to have civilized arguments like ours 😀

ROFL!

Come on people! That was sarcasm!

Just like this was:

No, but I know more lawyers than you, therefore I must be right

If you guys want to claim that there are some violent crimes that are more common in the USA than in Sweden, fine, becuase you'de probably be right. The thing that's taken you people almost a day to figure out is that I simply stated that Sweden has a higher crime rate than the US and the highest homicide rate in Europe. It took you about 12 hours even to figure out what I was claiming! I made a point and I backed it up. Simple.

I stand corrected Scipionix... You were right... thanx for a good run... 🙂

What I've seen was something like 1. something for Sweden and 5. something for USA per 100,000. How is Sweden's higher?

Man, though I don't wanna disagree with you, but honestly, you make an impression of a man that believes everything TV or Newspaper tells you. You provide facts from the "OP/ED" section of a Newspaper. That's the writers opinion man, come on!

That is HOMICIDE rate. I never claimed that Sweden's homicide rate is higher than ours. I claimed that Swedens overall crime rate is higher and I gave evidence to support my claim.

Sorry, but I must have missed that evidence.
But just a side note. If the homicide rate is 4 times higher in the USA than in Sweden, than in common sense and in general, USA will have higher crime rate.

What a ridiculous assumption. England's crime rate, excluding murder is higher than the US, while their murder rate is quite a bit lower. For some reason (I have my ideas) people in the US either hold human life in less regard, or are more willing to risk their lives protecting themselves and their property. It's just a difference in cultures, that's all.

I got nothing to say about this, i just like to quote... 😀

Me too 😀

I think we have set the record for how much space that has been wasted by quoting in four pages in this thread... 😀 actually, it was much more fun than the actual discussion...

I'm not completely sure why, but most European countries do not have the same problems with the narcotics trade as we have in the United States. Don't get me wrong, Europe has problems with the narcotics trade, but they do not see nearly the amount of drug-related violent crime that we do in the US, particularly in our urban centers. I don't know if this is a function of the supply or demand.
they don't share a border with mexico!
