I know this is not the best place to ask, but I'll give it a shot. LOL.

After ovulation, does the egg stay in the fallopian tubes the entire time and wait for fertilization there or does it eventually travel down into the uterus and stay there for a while until menses?

All the books I have doesn't mention what exactly the egg does, they all just say ovulation occurs and it travels down the fallopian tubes.

...wow, the Bio I took for my GE science credit finally comes in handy. :) Yes, fertilization occurs in the fallopian tubes, and if the egg is fertilized, it implants itself in the blood-lined uterus. If by some chance the egg implants inside the fallopian tubes, it's called an ectopic pregnancy and will almost always need to be aborted.

Thanks. This question was bugging me and none of the doctors and medical students I know could give me a straight answer as to what exactly happens to the egg.
