Google yielded nothing because you didnt type anything in the search field! ;)

I just did a google search for "solid state hard drive" without the quotes of course

The very first non-sponsored link was from bitmicro.com

Check out their site, they have all kinds of solid state drives. You'll have to email them for prices though.

I tried google, got nothing worthwhile.... All I got was people who make SSD's, no vendors... And what good is a vendor websight where you have to email them for prices?

bitmicro.com is very worthwhile

Youre shopping for a very highend equipment, youre not going to find it on froogle or some other price engine.

If youre genuinely interested in obtaining a SSD, you'll email bitmicro. Email them tonight,... youll prolly get a reply in the morning.

I did some checking up on this a while back. I think a 5 or 10 GB drive was going for around $10,000 but I'm not sure if those are the prices now. Basically most people tell you they cost as much as a used car or $1000 per 1GB I believe. Typical buyers are huge companies and military, if that gives you any idea. They last for pretty much ever(like 80 years or something), are silent, throw little to no heat, and are insanely fast. One guy who got to test one from I believe silentpcreview.com said his Windows was booting up in about 5 seconds total.

2 gig for ~800 SS is not that bad...

tho to have any real use for altleast OS operations (and support longhorn) I would see 10 gig as the base along with a 200 gig for loading up programs that don't need "speed"

Now that's a bargain @ only $1000 per GB :Q

The simpletech IS really well priced. Although I wonder about it's specs at that low a price.....

My current plan for my future rig includes:

Fx-55 with Vapochill oced to 3.2 Ghz
2 gigs system ram
5 gig SSD
74 gig raptor
200 gig 7200 rpm drive with NCQ and 8 mb buffer
6800 gt SLI
Various other components.

I have almost all that, still need SSD, vapochill, second 6800 gt. Almost have vapochill, and second 6800 gt no big deal. SSD, however, HUGE deal.
