I buy groceries from a small regional grocery chain. I go to Target for laundry soap and most toiletries. Dog food and accessories come from the local farm store. Pretty much everything else is online.

HEB (Texas chain) for everything except fruit, veggies, and meat. Those I get from Whole Paycheck, I mean Whole Foods.

Groceries: I shop at regional chains. Ingles and Harris Teeter.

Some stuff I get at Walmart and Sam's Club.

Other than groceries, I probably shop at Lowes and Home Depot the most (I have an old house, repair or fix almost weekly)

I go to the small butcher and produce shops near me for my meats and vegetables, Safeway is the closest national chain, so I go there a bit, Winco gets the most premeditated business though.

Regional grocery chain. Their prices are only barely higher than Wal-Mart's, and I can go on a Saturday or Sunday b/c they usually have cashiers at every register and I never have to wait long to check out.

where do you shop? :colbert:

my local Walmart is a shithole, so that's off the list outside of the once/month trip or so I'll make to buy TP, since I really like the Great Value brand toilet paper.

for groceries, I go to the regional chain store down the road from my house (Stop & Shop) unless I need something I can't get there, in which case I'll go to whichever ethnic market I need to.

for special meals, I'll go to a local butcher or fishmarket.

once in awhile I'll go to Costco, but that's mostly only when I need to buy food for a party.

HEB, Kroger, Costco, Sams (items Costco doesn't carry), and local farmers market late spring thru late fall. An Aldi's is opening soon so I will go at least once to see what they have to offer.

Walmart for toiletries, cleaning stuff.

Safeway for most food

Whole Foods for certain meats & produce

Petsmart for dog food & dog stuff

I made this poll in Off Topic but apparently it is considered Political

Where do you shop?

National chains only and limited to 10 by Poll

none of the above (although not all of those companies are in Canada). Most of my shopping I do in my neighbourhood at local stores all within a 15 minute walking distance. I'm lucky as most people don't have this option.

We hit up the farmers' market too, and the Fresh Market for other food stuffs. We go to smaller locally owned stores and order from Amazon and a few other sites for the rest.

Walmart is off my list, yet they're the closest store to my neighborhood. Well, they're IN my neighborhood and a lot of us residents resent the added traffic, noise and crime they brought with them and protested their ability to corrupt our local politicians and major property owner into allowing a zoning variance to scam the deal. So I drive twice as far (another whole mile 😉 ) to shop at Costco and KMart. A Target store adjacent to KMart is poorly managed and has lousy customer relations so I avoid that place like the plague.

A lot of folks mentioning Butcher shops.

Are they beating Walmart on price?

Do they have beef less than $10 a pound?

without exception, my local "Main St" stores are more expensive than driving to the big chain store, but the quality also tends to be better at the specialty stores.

I wouldn't go to a butcher shop just for Tuesday night dinner, but I'll go there if I'm having friends over for a dinner party, making a dish for a big family gettogether, etc.

ya don't go to a butcher shop to save, ya go because the quality is better. walmart meat quality just isn't there.

and I do almost all my shopping at a local chain, Hy-Vee, better selection and quality produce and meat.
