Network Technician at my University. Eventually, you realize that the users are just too stupid to be helped, and when they re-open a call for the third time saying their jack doesnt work, despite the fact that you've been out there 4 times now, and each and every time it works using your laptop, and the user's cord and the user's jack, and you know it is simply that they've set their static to the wrong subnet...

Well, when the user refuses to change their static IP to the correct subnet, and swears that the jack in their room only works when I am around, and then when they plug their (misconfigured) server in it breaks... you get less motivated to help them. Quotes such as this spring to mind...
"What we've got here is... failure to communicate. Some men you just can't reach. So you get what we had here last week, which is the way he wants it... well, he gets it. I don't like it any more than you men. "

IT work for a company. Sometimes I have to get up and go to our other locations or within the office but during slow times I can sit and surf. There can be some very slow periods...
