Sadly I know far more about framing than any guy should.

I typically used my sister's supplies (she framed all her own art, so she had everything - Mat cutters, mats, frames, hangers/wire, paper backing, etc.), Aaron Bros if my sister didn't have a frame or mat I wanted to use. Always did the work myself (or made her do it).

Having someone else do your framing is EXPENSIVE. Much cheaper to do it yourself.

A good alternative is to get the item matted to fit in a "standard" frame size and then just buy a frame at any department store.

Ikea has pretty cheap picture frames.

For something nice or of an unusual size I take it to a local frame shop. Looks really good, but it's awfully expensive. The rest of the time I just buy the frames whenever and wherever I see one I like. I like unusual frames. Last ones I got are made from saguaro cactus, something different.
