It's usually a no brainer for president for me. By that I mean both candidates have no brains so I end up voting for the one with more hair. For the other stuff, if I'm feeling adventurous, I usually first go to local newspaper sites, then I go to those sites that break things down into issues and stats. In all cases I start with google.

You don't need any information! If you're rich you vote Republican, if you're poor or a minority you vote Democrat.

Wall street journal and buisness week

The tv outlets just tell you WHAT to think, WSJ and other high end publications have reader bases smart enough to know better, so they give it to you a lot straighter

lol. Just to play Devil's advocate (or Bush's advocate, depending on how you look at it), plenty of poor farmers in the midwest vote Republican, and last I checked Colin Powell and his douchebag son Michael were minorities and Republican.

Just do what the majority of the population does, use these criteria:

best hair
easiest name to spell and pronounce
nicest signs and bumper stickers
most signs and bumper stickers - a sign that more people like so and so
vote for who you heard is in the lead, so you can rejoice in having picked the winner (like a horserace)
first name on the ballot
straight party-line (vote for everyone in a certain party)

If anyone doubts that the above is true, I'll concede that it's not true for some offices, particularly president. You can't avoid information on who's running for president.

But, the other 20 offices you're voting for... you have to actively look for information to distinguish between/among the candidates.

What are your core beliefs for this country?

Republicans generally believe in low taxes, liberty and freedom, and moral family values

Socialists .. er Democrats generally believe in high taxes, government control, redistribution of wealth, and moral relativism (where you make up your own morality).

No, if you desire to be rich (and are willing to work for it) vote Republican.

If you're poor and want the rich guy in the next neighborhood to be poor as well because it's not fair that he's rich and you're not, vote Democrat. They'll make sure they take all his money and make him as poor as you.

For beginners try www.presidentmatch.com where it asks you questions on your positions and then shows you whos the best canidate for you. Then it breaks down the canidates and what positions they are for.

Note it doesn't go into much detail and its only for beginners. Also its brought to you by AOL: internet for beginners/dummies hahaha

Any chance you could save this crap for P&N? Prior to Bush, we had a Democrat as president for 2 terms, and last I checked, there's still plenty of rich people in the US.
