We're in US East.

Bahamas / Cancun / Florida / or anywhere else? (3-4 nights in late Feb).

Cancun seems cheaper than Bahamas or other island destinations. We're looking for a relaxing resort with things to do for kids.

About a decade ago, there were several sites like Fatwallet and etc with super cheap vacations to Cancun, etc.

How do you do look for vacation hot deals today?

I'm not sure where to get cheap deals either but book directly if possible, sites like travelocity and expedia are a pain in the ass if ANYTHING goes wrong

We have a hotel group timeshare like program we bought into. We did a 5* resort outside Punta Cana for $183/nt in October and are heading to a PlayaDelCarmen 4.5* in December for $340/nt. We generally book 8-14 months in advance to catch the discounts. Earlier you book, cheaper the rate.

Our May Cancun reservation is currently showing $725/nt and we got in for $385/nt. No idea who is paying the advertised rate but the resorts seem to be full up as everyone continues to spend wildly.

I'm not sure they'll be any good deals this year for warm areas in North America. That's what we found last year anyway and I've not seen any airfare deals come through that make me think that's changed. Last winter we went to Spain and the Canary Islands not because it was on our original list but because N. American destinations were crazy expensive so our trip was actually much cheaper despite being farther away and us deciding to travel for longer. If the family feels up for a longer international trip I'd probably look there again

no more travel for me anymore, the world is too dangerous and expensive. i spend my vacations hiking around local forests and parks.

pre-2020 i had such big plans to travel the US and the world in the future. now i feel uneasy about even leaving my state.

I keep angling to go to the tropics and keep ending up in freezing cold places. This year we'll be in Poland, Czech Republic, and Austria over Christmas.

Next year is my 40th and I'm putting the ole foot down and insisting on Hawaii, Cancun/Caribbean, Floriduh or just someplace sunny and warm as my "You've got one foot in the grave" concession prize.

You really got to get out, life is too short - I just spent a week in NYC on business and logged 3-5 miles a day of walking, rode the subway 13 times, hit the Staten Island ferry, drank beers in Brooklyn, had Jamaican food up in Harlem, strolled through Central Park, grabbed some late night street meat from the Halal carts.

Zero issues!

I'd recommend a "singles" adventure company that caters to professionals over the age of 35 that allows you travel in a group with guides. Just show up at the airport and they whisk you away for a week of fun.

The #1 travel issue people find themselves in is buying drugs. Do not buy drugs, don't get hammered and stumble through downtown at 3am, don't wear a Rolex or use your LV luggage, don't flash cash.

Just to give an update:

Caribbean islands or Cancun are basically too expensive for feb & april. We're looking at stupid $5K without food expenses.

We said no, let's just do a local getaway

We found a nice fancy castle resort that's an all-inclusive in the upper NY state. No flight, just a 90 min drive and less than half the cost. It has an indoor pool / hot tub while you can go snow tubing / show shoeing / iceskating outside.

I'm looking forward to this far more than carideans.
