Where do *you* buy your PCs?

I was wondering where you buy your PCs or if you build them yourself who do you use as your main supplier and possibly builder?

For example, I know that Directron.com will allow you to select individual parts and then will assemble them for you. I am sure that other sites will do the same.

If possible, please state whether you build the PC yourself or use someone's service (such as described above).

Built my last several. Don't be afraid - go for it. There's lots of help out there (like here).

Newegg, Monarch, ZipZoomFly have all been great for me.

I build my own and I build some for friends. Most of my stuff comes from NewEgg, ZipZoomFly, or Monarch.

If someone I know needs a basic PC, I tell them to get a Dell.

I built my last one myself, and I never plan on doing anything other than that again. If you're just going the e-mail and word processing route, get a Dell. If you're getting into gaming, build your own.

The last rig I built, I bought my parts exclusively from ZipZoomFly; it worked very well for me.

I buy the parts online, usualy from zipzoomfly and newegg, and build them myself. I will never buy a pre-built PC, other than a laptop, cause there isn't much choice there.

I build mine from parts gathered from numerous sources. Some of my favorite sources are: jab-tech.com , svc.com , newegg.com , zipzoomfly.com , bgmicro.com , dealsonic.com , provantage.com , eBay and the For Sale/Trade section here and on a couple of other techie sites.
. We've got a new classified site in central NY called postaroo.com - maybe you have it in your town or a city nearby - just go to postaroo.com and click on the city nearest to you. I've already started posting there, but locally the site just opened Oct. 1 and the posts wont be available for viewing until tomorrow.

I only ever bought my first PC. From there it was a case of adaptation and sometimes building from scratch. I live in the UK and these are the companies I order most of my stuff from.
Overclockers.co.uk Overclock.co.uk Komplett.co.uk Dell - for my monitor scan.co.uk

I think that just about covers it. Other than Dell I have always experienced superb customer service from all these companies. Only snag is the monitor is great.

I build about 90% of my machines except for a Dell I bought a while back for an awesome price and I quickly resold it and made a huge profit 😉

Built them myself, 100%, since I was 12 🙂

Get most of my components from small Brick & Mortar shops around here. Mom and pop shops + intense competition = much better prices than online, and none of this shipping garbage.

Any computer that is for me personally, I build myself with the exception of laptops. For other people I have in the past recomended HP, Dell and Emachines (typically whichever is least costly).

Some years ago when I started out, I had a company like you mention build one to my specs. After upgrading the gfx card, the mobo & CPU I just started building 'em myself.

Build my own from parts purchased from several places...usually Zipzoomfly.com, Newegg.com, directron.com, monarch.com and svc.com.

just do lots of research, read a lot on this and other PC forums and ask lots of questions too. You'll do fine building.

Yes, after buidling my first three, I won't be going back to retail. Not out of spite, of course. They still make great ones - Dell, HP, Compaq, they're all fine. But I think that my builds are actually better performers, quieter, less costly and more eye appealing.
