Where do you buy your books?

I'm normally a library whore and just read everything then return it. I've started to get the collectors bug though and feel I should be buying all these books I enjoy even though I probably won't read them again for another 5-10 years. So, where is the best place to buy books?

If it ends up being Barnes and Noble I'm going to be disappointed 🙁

What ever bookstore is nearby, be it the locally owned or megachain one. I usually only buy one to three novels at a time in paperback so it really isn't worth it for me to order from Amazon. I'll only do that when I can't find those last two or three books in a series.

I used to buy most of my books from a local used book store, but they went out of business a few years ago. Since then I usually use eBay and lately, Amazon. Especially since their selection of older books from small sellers has gotten a lot better in the last couple of years.

i had no idea abebooks got bought out by amazon.

I didn't know either until I was in a dr.'s waiting room last week and picked up a copy of a news magazine(newsweek I think) to read. In the issue they were rating the most influential people or something similar, anyways it had Jeff Bezos listed and mentioned the purchase as part of his section of the article.

Amazon. I went to Borders once and the quality of the books is about the same as used because of the people who have mistook Borders for a public library.

I used to collect books, then I realized I almost never reread them and they took up a lot of space and were heavy to move. I now mainly use audiobooks or check out books from library.

Just wait to you go to college and buy textbooks. Then you feel the pain of buying $200-$300 Chemistry books.
