First time in a long while that i actually called a guy an asshole to his face and walked out.

Actually I was just at Radioshack earlier today (my dad needed an RF modulator to hook a DVD player and a VCR up to his old TV) and the guy was very helpful.

When it comes to cell phones... radioshack guys can be as bad as car sales men. They will tell you any lie to get you to buy the phone. Obvious commissionage going on.

Kinda of a long story, but he basically told me what i was trying to do in my car wouldnt work and i was stupid for thinking that it would.

I asked him if he would like to step out to my car so i can show him that it does indeed work and he smirked and walked away.

Basically, a nerd fight.

Be thankful it didn't escalate into a series of slaps. ;)

I may be a nerd but i sure as hell aint weak. He would have been quite confortable laying in a pile of overpriced batteries and crappy home theater speakers.

they stopped doing that, at least at the one's by me. most of the employees at my local shack just point to a shelf and say "its over there somewhere."

...went into a rshack in RedBluff Calif.to by a cheapo am/fm radio..forgot my CC radio at home..couldn't believe it..the place had NO radios. No am/fm radios. And Mr.Fud behind the counter didn't realize it till I went in there looking for one. He wanted me to order one and come back a week later and get it..so I went to walMart on got one. They had all kinds of am/fm portables. :disgust:

I'd say it's not enough difference to get into an argument over either way. But I haven't used a mac nor read any comparisons on the two on that platform so I couldn't argue.

As far as Radio Shack goes, they have their place. If you are clueless, the folks there can certainly find something to sell you to fix your problem. If you have a clue, it's probably better to get the thing you need somewhere else, or at the very least, not ask them any questions on it. That's my experience... but that goes for pretty much any product anywhere else too.

once i went to rs to get a keyboard/mouse combo and the salesgirl asked what type of computer i had (wtf? for keyboard??), not wanting to be rude, i said custom, she stared at me wide-eyed then asked if some1 built it 4 me, once again not wanting to correct her i said yes.... i'm gonna end up with a heart attack if they don't get smarter staff
but radioshack is still good for fuse...

I went there today and ask the lady where the heat sink compound was at, she just stared and said nothing. The other lady knew what I wanted, and guess what they were out.

If it's USB 2.0, then it's 480 Mbps regardless of whether x86 or IBM PPC architecture. Which is faster, the 480 Mbps of USB 2.0 or the 400 Mbps of IEEE 1394 (alias: "firewire") 400?

Now, there is an IEEE 1394 _800_ standard that is indeed faster than the USB 2.0 spec, but since you specified IEEE 1394 400, you'll have to deal with having been wrong.

Everytime they are in there they ask me if I want to buy one.

"Would you like to buy a cell phone to go with that?"

Only thing I get from there is free after rebate items or soldering stuff...

Darn...I was beat.

Like it or love it, you're wrong. I know Apple may have patented Firewire, but that doesn't mean it's faster or that it's "more compatible."
