Where do these people covered in tatoos work?

I don't understand what's wrong with self-righteous people like you.

There are certain industries where any visible tattoo would never land you a job, my guesses being banks, law firms, and other "old white conservative guy" filled business.

There are also industries, especially tech, where people hold "less conservative" views. They understand that skilled job performance and responsibility are the most important aspects of an employee, and whether or not there are "certain controversial aspects" about his appearance are negligible or extremely minor.

You're right in your views, but you're not the only one right. You're wrong also, which is probably very hard to accept for you.

To address this, please see my above post with the study. It tells your employer that you are unprofessional and that you don't care what they, or anyone else, thinks about your image. If you don't care about it that is fine and your personal preference. Personally I want to be seen as a professional because professionalism pays.

Oh, I like how you call it ink. That is so trendy!

I wouldn't learn anything from that guy. It's not the social norm of any western society. How is anyone expected to learn public speaking when the person teaching is nothing but a bad teenage decision or adult acid trip gone bad.

I have to admit, he looks very happy.

Not really. You generally don't see too many tats on labourers. At least not the amount that's being implied here. You can't wear piercings either because they can get caught in the machinery.

As someone who works in industry i can tell you you are rather wrong there. We have a work force (water front people, those who actually do the work) of around 3000 people. This is a shipyard, maintain/overhaul/repair US Navy ships just for the environment. You are actually in the minority if you do not have a tattoo. A good 75% (speculative based on my own observations) have tattoos. In the younger group is probably higher than that. Most are smaller, single pieces. but probably 25% (again speculative on my observations) have multiple tattoos on their arms/visible areas.

Piercing wise, there are quite a few with gauged ears, lip piercings, and other facial piercings (nipple piercings and down below piercings dont really matter to this subject). Alot of them are welders or shipfitters. Those guys constantly use grinders and other machinery that spins.

For management it starts to trickle down to fewer tattoos. But a lot of the supervisors still do have at least one, however it is usually small or covered up. Be interesting to look at that perspective, how many tattoo and pierced workers vs their supervisors.

Anyways theres a real world perspective for an industry type area rather than an IT setting.

it's not your money, so shut up and let people do what they want instead of being so judgmental. i will guarantee you that you are doing a hundred things people find ridiculous and a waste of money, but they don't care enough about you to spout off about it.

Well fucking duh...they don't know it by looking at me though. It's not as though I'm wearing a few thousand dollars worth of bicycle components or HT speakers or a motorcycle on my arms when I go to work...or to an interview.

Sorry, I'm just not ready to "put it out there" that I'm dumb enough to spend thousands of dollars marking up my body with a bunch of permanent ink nobody else on the planet gives a shit about.

I don't give a shit about your ink or anyone else's. In fact, I think it's a stupid waste of money and it reflects poorly on you. That's what I think. Don't like it? Too fucking bad. Suck it.
