Where do people get these gmail invites?

I've had gmail for quite sometime now but I wonder where others get all these invites to give away...

Do they work for gmail or something? I've never gotten any invites to give away since I was given one.
 
did you check the lower left hand corner of gmail?

i hardly use my account and yet got 6 invites.

i know people who got them as soon as they signed up.
 
I started off with 1 invite when I first got gmail, then after I gave that out they loaded me up with 6 more. By the way, there is an invite in the official goodnight thread. The very last post.
 
 
So is google ever going to open it up so that you can just go sign up, or is this a big experiment in social networking ala 6 degrees of separation?

if you have had it for over month i would be very suprised if you havent gotten any to give out. you probably just didnt see the link. they dont really notify you, it just shows up on the page. gmail had stopped giving people invites for a while, but i guess last week they gave members more. i guess they were ready to handle more traffic 🙂

 
you get them after youregister your name, you get 3 after like 5 days and then 6 more ever 2 days after that
 
I asked my gf whether she wanted one. No she said. why I asked. She said I'm fine with yahoo. See not everyone wants it. Anyway, I've got 3 to give away. First 3 PM's with your email will get them.
 
When I started using gmail, people kept asking if it was a ghetto reference. 😀

My inivites are gone, the gmail gods must not like me.
