I tried in MSDOS window in WIndows and it says

cannot specify default drive

I tried in pure DOS environment (command prompt from safe mode menu during bootup) and it says

bad command line

i can't? I want to get rid of the WIn2k installation menu. It keeps asking me if I want to boot to win2k setup or win98. I want to take away win2k because i don't really need it. I still want to keep win98 though.

If you booted from a bootdisk, just SYS C: should work. Otherwise, the syntax is
SYS [drive 1:][path] drive 2:

so 'SYS A: C:' would copy the system files from A:\ to C:
or 'SYS A:\somefolder C:' would copy the files from that specific folder to C:

Ok, here's what you do:

Format a win98 boot diskette, copy \windows\system\sys.com to it, boot from diskette, type sys c:, boot from HD, enjoy.
