nah, forget 1800, once you get your prescription, buy from http://www.1-save-on-lens.com/. they don't contact your doctor or anything like that, you just type your prescription in directly. why is this important? because most states have laws that say your prescription is only good for 1 year. which is ridiculous since i'm not paying $75 a year for an eye doctor to tell me something i already know, just so i can get some refills. i prefer to disobey stupid laws enacted by lobbyists for the sole purpose of keeping their business $$$ flowing.

eh, you certainly don't need a law on the books, though. you can tell when your glasses don't work so well anymore and you should go to the eye doctor.

okay where do i get for my presciption filled?
My own doctor in LA wont give me my eye glass prescription until he has filled them thru his shop.. i dont know if i can get precriptions from lens crafters. I am reluctrant to use the service thru school, the guy checked my eyes earlier and basically said he couldnt do a complete checkup on my eyes.

Though i could try and use him for a prescription on the contacts.

IANAL and ITLTG, but I'm pretty sure that's against federal regulations.

have you tried costco. they have eye examinations and plus, in a few weeks, there's a coupon for contacts in their passport book.

Try Costco, BJs, Sams Club, etc.

I get my contacts from there and they're pretty cheap (cheaper than 1800 Contacts).

Speak for yourself, I guess. 16 bucks for my Optima FW versus 20 at 1-800. *shrug*

Well, I know that for contact lense prescriptions, you should tell that doctor to shove it, because not only is he telling you something illegal, it's highly unethical as well. Read this: http://www.1800contacts.com/do.../DocRx-release-2.shtml

There is probably a similar law out there for regular eyeglasses.
