I used an ear candle once, ONCE!! It's nasty but it works.
Ear candling doesn't work, never has worked, never will work.
Silly hippie crap.
actually it does work if used properly, I can't stand it because of the fire on the stick that's pressed against my ear factor, but when I've got an ear infection it helps a lot.
I don't get it, how is this supposed to work? You drip hot candlewax in your ear or something?

They're not like regular candles, more like a tube that fits in your ear. You light the top and the heat of the flame draws air up the tube.. It's supposed to kind of heat and suck out wax, but it's a load of poppycock.

Just clean your ears more often. I roll a flannel into a point in the shower and use that. No need for spoons or other BS.

Sorry for the "ew factor", but q-tips leave much to be desired and this is a serious question... the web offers some slim pickings on this, do they go by another name I'm not aware of?

don't put objects in your ears. clean them out by pouring in a bit of diluted hydrogen peroxide (3% solution)

Seconded!

I clean 'em daily with q-tips after doing so thoroughly with soap & a washcloth in the shower, maybe my ears are just oddly shaped or produce more wax than others' ears, but it's not enough.

It's fine so long as you have a basic idea of what you're doing.

i have been doing the drug store ear drops + peroxide/alcohol/warm water rinsing for 2 days now. last night i got a chunk out the size of 1/2 pea , it was gross
but my hearing is improving slowly. the box says it can take 4 days of doing it , i am hoping to make more progress tonight.

I've seen adverts for some aerosol or spray that breaks down wax that looks pretty good. it's designed to be used daily. I'll check out the name next time I'm in the pharmacy
