Where do I find one of these pencil sharpeners?

I have always been trying to find a pencil sharpener which does not make the tip so sharp and hence so fragile. Every thing I get pretty much sharpens exactly the same, a fine sharp point. I want a blunt point like how many new art pencils come in the box.

Any idea who sells these sharpeners? Powered or manual doesn't matter... I had no luck googling for this I guess I need to know a specific term to describe them because all I can find are standard.

Buy mechanical pencils, I didn't even know they still make pencil sharpeners anymore.

Tap the pencil vertically on the paper first, thus blunting the tip?

Go to an art supply place. Their pencil sharpeners are superior to what you get at a regular store. Best of luck with your pencil sharpening.

use a knife (my preference)
or
sharpen it all the way, and break off the tip

That's actually what I used to do when I was in school. Then just draw a few circles to equaly smooth the lead out real quick.

Unless you're using art pencil, why would you buy non-mechanical pencil?

i cant use a mechanical pencil personally...i always break the lead almost immediately no matter how hard i try not to

Arts supplies stores would have the type of sharpener you need. And you're supposed to blunt the pointed end before using it to write.

DIY.

Any sharpener you wanted, can simply have the bottom cutter teeth ground down so it's not sharpening the end anymore.

Get a lead holder (I prefer Staedtler) and a a pointer and use the shorter gauge to set the sharpening. You'll consistently get a blunter point every time you sharpen.

What lead size? I think they do make 0.9mm leads and pencils.

I use 0.7mm. If I try 0.5mm, it's the same way - lots and lots of broken tips, with very little writing.
