i figured it was one of ipconfig's switches, couldn't remember what tho

For internal ethernet cards, the above method that everyone posted.
For external ethernet cards, you can just look under the card (same with PCI wireless cards.)

For the "new" school people:

You can also go Start - Control Panel - Network Connections and right-click on your Network Adapter. Choose Status and then click on Details.

Personally I am old school... My first XT (8088) computer only had 2 5 1/4 drives and we booted off the diskette into DOS 3.3. Wow those CGA graphics were fantastic back then! (I think it was 1989)
