Voted front row, but in reality it was usually either the second-to-front row on one of the ends if in a small/average-sized class, and if in an auditorium I would either sit in the back of the front partition or the front of the back partition.

back seat middle hump

But seriously, I always sat in the back. A few classes I got in trouble in, so I would get the reserved seat right by the teacher.

And I broke the rules as far as where you sit. I got all A's throughout my school career.

Always in the front to avoid at all costs having to see people make fun of me. I may have heard it but it was better not to have to see it. The teacher smirking..no way around that.

in school you usually picked your place the first lesson (can be different in each room but usually doesn't vary much unless the teacher prefers a different desk disposition) and then usually stick with it for the year although there can be revolutions, evolutions or variations during the year (since there's more seats than students and sometimes there's people missing).
I was always in the last row in the place closest to the wall with the windows.
This in primary and secondary school.

At university I'm always in the second or third row close to the center. Easy to hear and see, but not too close or visible.

I think some years it was assigned but other years it was not, went through many schools so they all had different rules.

When I chose it was usually around the middle or so. I wanted to be able to listen and pay attention but did not want to be RIGHT in the front either.

Depends on the class, if it was english or math usually the back, if it was history or science, usually the front.

grammar school: wherever my seat was assigned (typically the back row, since it was alphabetical)

high school: back row or middle depending on the classroom and where my friends were sitting... most classrooms in my high school were divided in half, though, such that you had 3 rows on each side of the class room and the teacher lecturing from the center.

college: first or second row (moreso than high school, most of my college professors made use of the blackboard or overhead projectors; I sat up-front so I could see them more easily)

Grade school - alphabetical order by last name IIRC.
High school - same as above, but girls in front.
College - wherever I wanted. Usually in the middle row, class size rarely exceeded 30 students.

Class I cared about (most classes):
2nd row. Close enough to be involved, but I'd prefer not to be in the front row.

Class I struggled with:
1st row. Forced me to stay awake and made the professor notice me.

Class that felt like a waste of my time and was really easy for me:
back row where I'd use my laptop and partially pay attention to the lecture
