I'm guessing it disappeared because the OP, who has all of 3 total posts, has only posted threads plugging that particular website.

That would be my guess too.

I can see that the thread was locked and moved to the recycle bin, and the user's account has been deactivated.

Was there something invalid about the benchmark results? If spam then I can understand banning the thread's OP, but were that data invalid as well?

Maybe Anandtech felt that having that info on this board would be a violation of their NDAs? That's the only reason that I can think of for deleting it.
I didn't get a chance to read it, btw.

I don't think it's an NDA thing. It looks like the mod who did it decided it was spam. Looking at the post, I tend to agree - it looks like website spam to me too. The website in question looks like a clearinghouse for other website's news.

I don't know if the results are invalid. While I know a lot about Nehalem's internal status, I have no idea what the performance numbers look like. So, I can honestly say that I have no idea whether or not the numbers in the link are right or wrong.

I'll post to the mods and ask if someone can reinstate it, or explain more clearly why it was nuked. I don't have the ability (my "powers" are limited to Gadgets and Gear) and I'm too new to the modding thing to feel comfortable overriding someone else's decision. Plus there's a bit of a conflict of interest of me doing anything about a post about Nehalem.

It is spam, it had nothing to do with an NDA. The user posted a known spam web site from a known spam IP range.

Any NDA agreement with AT is between the AT product reviewers (the peeps who write the articles) and whatever company. AT is not saying that discussions on Nehalem (or anything else) are not allowed on the forums by signing an NDA. Everyone can post whatever they want about any product as long as the post is within the posting guidelines. Nowhere in the guidelines is any nomenclature about AT forum users having to follow an NDA that exists between AT and some other company.

For what it's worth, here's the source (not the spam website, the original source) for the info that was in the thread that was deleted.

The benchmarks and other info: (it's in Chinese, but the pictures and photos are obviously readable).

Evadman thanks for explaining the reasoning behind the thread's deletion. I did not suspect anything sinister but it is nice to hear the logic behind the policy and action.

pm many thanks for digging up the link. It is appreciated and nice to read the source.

For anyone that wants to read the chinese site translated into english (mostly) here is a link: http://translate.google.com/tr...e=UTF-8&sl=zh-CN&tl=en

It was me that deleted the thread. We generally don't post why we remove spam threads and censor spam websites. Since this one was a little different and a few of you were concerned as to the reasons why, I thank Evadman and pm for posting the reasons.
