Where did that Java 2 icon come from?

This morning a lamp icon for the Java 2 platform showed up in the tray on my computer. I have made no changes to my machine and have not authorized any software download or update. If I click on it, it opens a box saying version 1.5.0. I assume it is innocuous, but don't know how it got there -- and obviously don't want it in the tray.

Anyone know what Sun is up to and how they surreptiously managed to load the software on my machine?

Thanks.

All it takes is going to any page that needs to java client and clicking the ok button. Not a big deal, if you don't want it in the tray there is an preferences page...not sure how I usually get to it but you can turn it off easily.
