where did stupid phrases like 'epic fail' and 'do want' come from?

I thought I was pretty good at the internet, but this thread makes me realize I have much to learn.

I live in the south where people say "Do What?" instead of "What?" when they don't understand something. As stupid as that is, is that the same thing as "Do want?"

That one originated from people who downloaded a pirated copy of star wars ep 3 from china which contained english to chinese to english subtitles. When darth vader screams "nooo" it got translated as just "do not want" and the phrase came to be used for all undesirable things. The natural opposite is "do want"

oh just saw this thanks. That is kinda funny. Much better than "Do What?" "Do what" is so annoying.

The terms "Epic" and "Legendary" have been made popular by World of Warcraft.

I'm confused by this 4chan thing, though. The whole site seems incredibly disorganized and difficult to follow...?

It's actually well-organized.

You may be having a hard time following because the areas you can't relate too though.
