Where did my Intel HD graphics go?

RE: HTPC in sig below.

Fixing to pull the GTX560 out of the HTPC, wanted to use the Intel graphics on the i3 2100 until I upgrade... except it's nowhere to be found. It doesn't show up in display adapters, it doesn't show up in CPUid, it won't allow the updated Intel graphics driver to install (system doesn't meet requirements.)

Got to be something simple... what am I missing? 😕

EDIT: It worked before with a Pentium G630, before I upgraded to the i3.

Your BIOS has the integrated graphics disabled, which many motherboards do if they detect discrete graphics.

Most will automatically enabled the integrated graphics if you remove the discrete card. Although some require going into BIOS, enabling it, saving, shutting down, pulling discrete card, then booting.

Now that I'm looking for it, it's missing from my desktop, too. Interesting... never used to be like that.

I'll have to dig into the BIOS and see....

Thanks!

With my 2500k and Z68 board, the onboard GPU also has to be set as the primary display adapter or it is automatically disabled. I use my onboard to handle some secondary displays for 2D purposes. Only downside of having your onboard as primary is that your BIOS and startup info will come up on whatever is plugged into that instead of your discreet GPU. In my case it's not a big deal.
