I was aroung during that time but was too young to understand beyong the domino effect, however South China Sea/Spratly Islands 1,367,000 barrels a day may have some thing to do with it.

Sorry, I didn't have the luxury to study English in high school, because I was too busy dogging expensive made in America/Soviet Union/China bullets.

US enter Vietnam War 1956
US retreated from Vietnam War Jan, 1973.

The 17 year war bankrupt the US.

Stock market crash Oct, 2008...
1991 First Gulf War (technically never ended)
2008 US talk about pull out of the Iraq (gulf) War.

Once again the world wealthiest nation is bankrupt in another 17 year war.

Ok, bad grammar asside, all you are doing is manipulating numbers to make something out of nothing.

I don't claim to be an expert on Vietnam, but anything I can find said US military involvement didn't start until the mid 60's! What is this 1956 number you speak of? There were military advisors in Vietnam in the 50's but I would hardly consider that "entering the Vietnam War."
Semantic.

Some people feels that the US didn't enter the Vietnam Conflict till 1965, and other feels that the US didn't enter the Afghan/Iraq War till 2001.

Which suggests one of the main factor in US bankruptcies are wars that spans between 7-8 years.

Do you not understand capitalism? If anything the wars would be putting money into American business, not taking it out.

If you're going to go to the trouble of thinking up (I'll give you the benefit of the doubt although I'm pretty sure you probably just ripped this from someone else) such a silly thing, why not also include the original 1920s stock market crash? OMG it happened and then 17 years later we decided to stop WWII!

You sound like those idiots who try to relate numbers to events. I had a classmate in high school do a speech that dealt with that and Tupac's death. It was one of the dumbest things I've ever heard.
Wait the minute, didn't war partially has something to do with the collapse of Rome, France (Napoleonic War), Germany (WWW II), and Soviet Union (Cold War).

There were no US troops in Vietnam before 1965, and no US troops in Afghanistan before 2001, and no US troops in Iraq before 2003. There aren't "Some people" who believe otherwise. If you're trying to make an argument that getting involved in wars that we can't afford leads to economic recessions, then maybe we have something to talk about. But what it sounds like is that you're pointing to some magical number and claiming that there's some sort of astrological imperative-- in which case, you're an idiot.

It's not exactly a revelation that trillion-dollar wars that we pay for on credit are bad for the economy.

And apparently, you don't have the luxury of starting this thread in Politics & News, where it belongs.

If you're not American, shut up. Seriously, do you know what you're talking about? The US was in Korea during the 50s and why did we go to Vietnam? To bail out the fuckin French and the UN - then the politicians ran the fucking war, not allowing the military to do it. Pretty much the same deal with Iraq ...

Why'd you edit it from boys to hookers?

Some people like little girls for some reason... ;)

I meant to say boys and girls but hookers worked better.

Again, take it to the fucking P&N forum. Or do you write English but can't read it?

ETA - Don't get me started about Hurricane Katrina. Our state gave to Louisiana but didn't get shit back from them in the form of help for Ike.
