I know I've seen a couple of threads on this before. Where can I get the larger tank or a well reviewed assisted flush toilet. I need 8 :)

I didn't even know you could get the larger tank toilets anymore, because of the enviornmental restrictions. The flush assisted toilets I saw over at Home Depot.

Isn't it law to have watersavers down there now? Its only optional up here in Canada, but my new house has a watersaver in the basement, and my god that thing couldn't flush a piece of papertowel. I just LOVE plunging my toilet everyday!

Look to that snow soaked country to the North.

But, you'll have sh!t over your face if you get caught smuggling that over the border.

I've been waiting for this thread for years and now I just don't know what to say.

My favorite toilets are still the two piece kind. The tank is mounted on the wall about 6 feet up and a chain with a handle hangs down from the flush handle. You get a heck of a flush from the extra height.

I just replaced an old high volume commode in one of the upstairs bathrooms with one of the new 1.6 gallon flushers. It probably wouldnl't work for sh!t (pardon the pun) except the waste line takes a straight 12 foot drop from the commode to the basement before it hits the first elbow.

Damn, I'm getting fuzzy all over feelings talking toilet. Maybe I shoulda been a plumber.

I swear there was a very informative thread where a building designer was posting about the best power assisted flushers... but I searched and didn't find doo-doo (the opportunity for puns in thise thread...)

Don't laugh, but I am completely THRILLED with a unit I got a couple months ago from a discount plumbing supply. It was only $100.00 and it works GREAT. I've always heard the low flow toilets were the pits, but that was then. On this one, you have to hold the handle down for almost one second, instead of a quick flip, but the flush is amazing for the small amount of water it uses. It tops off the tank in less than 30 seconds. I LOVE IT!

Several months ago I got a couple Universal-Rundles that work equally well for only $65.00 each. They don't top the tank off quite as fast as the American Standard, but not bad.

A report on low flow water efficient toilets

My problem is that if I have a 5 GPF toilet, I will actually SAVE water over having to flush a 1.6 GPF toilet 4 times....

Find out what toilets are used in large businesses. Usually businesses will by a very large sized bowl, and have very strong flush power for all the different types of asses/bowel power from the different people who work. The toilets at my work are pretty nice and large, and they flush down everything without any trouble. :D

He should go for pressure assited toilets. It looks like regular toilet and has a tank, but instead of free standing water, there is a pressure vessel in there. They use the water line pressure to compress the water against air in pressure vessel and compressed air pushes water out and flushes with woooooosh! .

I don't think you can use tankless commercial toilets unless you have main water line with such capacity.

BTW, why no such thing as large capacity tank toilets with bi-level flusher? Mark full flush "Sh!t" and mark reduced flush "p-ss"

OT: Why are commercial toilets different from home toilets? Home toilets all have the reservoir, while commercial toilets always just have a pipe coming out of the wall. Commercial toilets always have good power and they don't use much water, it seems. Is there a reason why these aren't installed in people's homes? Are the water lines under higher pressure in commercial buildings or something?

Back on topic: At a hotel once, there was a toilet with what looked like a mini-keg in the reservoir. That sucker shot out water fast! It sounded like a jet taking off or something. WOOOOSH! I'd like to have one of those :D

Residential water lines doesn't have enough peak flow capability to allow tankless toilets.

Honestly Jzero and GooberP, the new low flows are outstanding. They have been tweaked and perfected. I'm a believer! :Q

Don't worry djheater, there must be some local plumbing supply place that will "hook you up". Ask the plumbers at the local hardware, Lowes or Home Depot where they buy and which models they recommend. I hope Uncle Marty's is still in business, cause their prices were unreal! That site was pretty lame, so maybe it's getting overhauled.

There is no flush like Top Flusher. I live in a 150 year old Victorian. Pull chain, 5 gallon flush. Poop gone fast.

You can get the big tanks from Canada. Also, believe it or not, go garage saleing. Some of those $5 commodes are worth their weight in poop...errrr....gold.

This is from a 3 year old consumer Reports article:

Pressure assisted:
Gerber Ultra Flush 21-302 A CR Best Buy
Crane Economiser 3-804
American Standard Fontaine EL PA 2042.417

Gravity Flush
Eljer Berkeley 081-1595
Eljer Patriot 091-1125
American Standard Cadet II EL 2174.139
Mansfield Elderly 137-160
Gerber New Aqua Saver 21-702

Too much work to copy prices, do a search on epinions...

You can still get the high volume toilets, but they're for commercial applications, and supposedly, there's a marked for the older used stuff.

CANADA!

No really... thats the only place. In the US they are illegal to sell and to install.

But, its 100% legal to go to Canada, buy one, and bring it back to your house. I did that a little less then a year ago. Went to Niaraga Falls, bought one up there, and brought it back across the border and now its, umm, sitting here in my house.

Just go into a Canadian hardware store, say your an American looking for a toilet, and they will know exactly what you want.

"Hi. I'm a dumb redneck from America. I came all the way to Canada to buy one of your fine toilets. I don't give a damn about the fishing, hunting, beer, booze, dope, or women. Just gimme one of your best toilets and hurry up. I gotta go."

I'm not aware of the rule for correct usage. If you can find some documentation to support your assertion I'd be happy to change it for you.

With all the increased security at the borders, I wouldn't consider smuggling a toilet into the US. :)

This reminds me of a news article I saw a year or 2 ago. It was about the increased smuggling of toilets from Canada to the US. Truckloads were being snuck in!
