And not involve setup and on-line installation . . . I find all of the Microsoft sites require an on-line installation. I want to download the whole enchilada - just like it would be provided by Microsoft on CD. Anyone know where this might be available?

Thanks! That is what I am looking for, but the site is dog slow. I have broadband, but at 4-5 mbps. it would be a 7-8 hour download.
I think I will look for some other software that includes a copy of IE 5.5 - or send for the M$ CD.

Thanks anyway!

Couple ways I've done:

- download and run the ie5setup file

- select Install Minimal, or customize your browser

- click Advanced... button

- check Download only box

- then select a folder to download the installation files to and the OS
to install on.

or run:

%path%\ie5setup.exe /c:"ie5wzd.exe /d:1 /s:""#E"

where %path% is the folder where you saved the ie5setup file

OK! I used ChunkiMunki's site (Victoria U, BC, Canada) and got all the files I need. I got SP2 for IE5.5 and also IE6 - complete - no Internet connection needed.

To answer the last question - I need these for maintenance of our SeniorNet classrooom Instructor's system. Some problems have arisen in the Instructor's podium system, and we need to reinstall IE5.5 (All the systems are set up with 98SE) to correct a corrupted driver in Outlook Express. SP2 will do exactly what I want it to do in this case, including updating OE.

If that fails we will install IE6. The lab consists of a master station and 8 workstations all linked. The instructor's monitor is projected real time onto a screen and the students can follows along easily.

As for download speed - the first site gave me about 4 KBps - the Canadian U. site averaged about 56 KBps. Much better!

Thatks all, for your help. :)
