Is there a place I can learn to drive a stick without actually being on the road? Cuz I live in a city, and I dont want to go out on the streets without knowing how to drive one. Anyone have any successful methods?

Borrow a friend's car and go to an empty parking lot. Just practice it until you get the hang of it. It won't take too long.

Parking lot. Unfortunately, you pretty much DO need to know someone with a beater who's willing to let you try. Or, just buy a $500 beater to learn on, and sell it a couple months later for the same price.

You can pick up the basics pretty quickly. After a couple hours in the parking lot, you should be fine to drive around on city streets, though you'll probably want to be wary of steep hills for a while.

meh...my dad has a work truck he can pickup that i can learn on. I also live in a gated community though, so maybe I can try it out in there.

I bought a beater for $1500 to learn 3 years ago and I'm still driving it daily today

 also try a park. You want to get practice while your stopped on an incline.

My first car was stick, had to drive it home from about and hour away, I learned really quick that way!

Stalled about 4 or 5 times on the way home.

But I grew up with ATV's, Dirt Bikes, and Motorcycles so it's the same principle as those with the gas and clutch.

Find someone who has a stick, then ask them if they can teach you at all. Your also going to want to practice not only on flat ground, but on some type of hill too.

LOL, good luck finding a friend willing to let you wear out the transmission.
