Where can I learn more about those RC cars that are super super fast

I'm talking the ones that are maybe a foot or two long (?) and go like 45 - 60 mph. Run on gas. I'd like to do some research and eventually get one but don't know where to start.

Tower Hobbies is a good place to start. Electric cars can & do go that fast as well, though run times are more limited (6-8 minutes per charged battery). Things aren't cheap.

Jeebus. For $1k you can get an awesome setup! I paid $299 for mine, complete (without radio) and it does 50 or 60 (never checked).

Buy a good engine, they are worth the extra money. Replace the half axes with metal ones if they are plastic, even if its an expensive upgrade. You don't want to see what your $450 gas powered RC car looks like when a half axle strips going around a corner at 35+ mph.

Learned the hard way, did you?

BTW Helicopters are the shiznit, you can break out some wicked tricks with an RC chopper like fling upside down or sideways, full flips, levitating upside down etc.

I started with a traxxas truck...came ready to run...just add gas. constantly broke thing.

quickly moved to a RC10 truck built from scratch. That thing is like a tank.

Of course mine was bad because when the axle stripped it resulted in the car not being able to maneuver and avoid a wall.

Story of my RC life: Had a few Tyco/Nikko RC cars through elementary and middle school. I was at the point where I'd buy a new one every year. 8th grade I discovered Tamiya/HPI/Losi/etc. 9th grade I bought a Tamiya electric. Learned a lot on that car. Then two years later I bought a Traxxas Nitro 4TEC. Since the nitro I've bought some other electric ones (bored and they were cheap).

damn... these are cheaper than i thought 🙂

this one looks sweet : this

what i am confused about is, is it easy to find Nitro Fuel? and how much does it cost?

Nitro fuel is <$10 a quart, and <$30 a gallon. Don't know how that pricing works out. Anyhow, its availabe at any hobby shop.

i'm having a hard time finding any gas powered vehicles. All are nitro.

I'd like to mess with a 1/4 gas car - but those get super expensive...need very powerful servos, etc.
