where can I go to print posters?

I want to get my art mass produced, but I have no idea where to go. I'm not looking to print something that'll fade and wash off easily when wet. I'm talking about movie poster quality stuff. you know, posters they have at Tower Records and such. where can I get them printed in bulk?

thanks for any advice.

Your most economical bet might be at a university. We actually have a major in printing technology, and the students there have access to such processes. Find a student working on a project, or approach a faculty member.

How many copies are we talking here? Is this a 100 poster type job that you could do at a Kinkos, or is it much bigger than that?

it's to sell my works at an art expo. my school does has plotters and printers, but I doubt I can get the same kind of quality that industrial printers offer. I'm looking forward to print about 20-30 prints.

It just depends on how much money you can spend. Kinkos can print just about anything you want and laminate it, but you'll pay through the nose. If you can do with marginally worse quality and want to save a buttload of money, your school/department should be able to print it for much less. How much money per poster depends on the size and even color scheme here, but it might be different for you.

how much would it cost to print something 24"x36" on semi gloss paper?

thanks...

Call the printing places in the phone book, and find out which ones have giclée printers.

A couple of professional artists that I know have prints of their stuff made with such equipment.

they must be really expensive, huh?

I just received my print from zazzle.com, and they're of pretty good quality.... of course I could tell the difference from the music posters that I have, but it was partially because I magnified the original low dpi image.

i can't spend too much money printing or else I'm gonna have to bump the resale prices. I'm trying to keep these posters under $30 for sale.
