Where would i start looking?

If you guys could give me the types of stores that would carry these items. That would be a start.

Also, is it illegal to own any of these items?

methanol is easily available, although perhaps not in that precise concentration.

formaldehyde and sulfuric acid could probably only be obtained via a chemical supply store. Look in your yellow pages.

90% sulfuric acid? Geez...

Edit: I noticed your percentages add up to 100%... so are they proportions of a certain volume, or are you expressing the desired strength of each chemical?
 
I know a few places to get this stuff, but really, .... what are you gonna do with it? Its kinda like if someone started asking where to get bomb parts or something.
 
you can get the sulfuric acid in a hardware store. Probably the methanol as well. Formaldehyde, if nothing else, ask either a high-school biology teacher (and have him take the frog out first), or a funeral home.

And i don't think it's illegal to own any of those substances by themselves, just be careful, as others have said, the police or others might think you're building a bomb after the whole sad episode of the Oklahoma City bombing. Just use appropriate discretion.

first off, NOBODY should be telling him where to get those chemicals.

if you don't understand how to obtain these chemicals in the concentrations you need, than you shouldn't be mixing them. you obviously don't understand.

if I was any of you, I would stay far away from this thread, he's not going to win the Nobel Prize, he's going to die.

these chemicals aren't that bad, and those aren't concentrations, maybe you should read his post again, those are just how much he needs in percentage of the compound.
 
I know they're not concentrations, thank you. I'm pretty sure that after three years of chemistry courses I understand what a concentration is. My point is that if he doesn't know how to mix them to get the concentration he wants, than he shouldn't be mixing them.

he really shouldn't be mixing them at all. for one, sulfuric acid reacts violently with alchols. another point is forformaldehyde forms a dangerous carcinogen when mixed with strong acids, and I would say the sulfuric is a pretty strong acid. thirdly, all three of these chemicals have to be in specific containers, you really don't want to be putting sulfuric acid into a metal bucket.

for the curious, the methanol stablizes the formaldehyde, keeping it from forming a polymer.
 
I never saw anywhere that said he didn't know how to mix them. He just wants to know where to get them. Besides, what harm can you do to Hawaii? It's just a bunch of little islands.....😉
 
hahaha, I must agree... hawaii is just a bunch of small little islands... i had an ex girlfriend from there, and boy, all they do is go to parking lots and drink, ... go to zippys, eat their L&L's take out, but whatever.. Its gotta suck being from there, trapped on an island... w/ not even the slightest idea there's a society beyond their own.. naive to say the least, but back to the chemicals...

if by chance, looking at his name, SpeedGod, if he were referring to the illegal substance rather than in MHz or GHz, I would say that some of the chemicals could be useful in the manufacturing of Crystal Meth... am I mistaken? Are you looking for Red-Phosphorous by any chance? Iodine? Ephedrine?

satrt at your local police precinct, it should spare a few lives if you where to mess up your plans, or succeed. so just start there, or do you need those to build a silicon chip? if your trying to become a start up to beat intel, let us know we'll gladly help...
 
Just spoke to someone, they said it looks like he's trying to make crystal methamphetamines. They said those things can be used for other things, but those are key ingredients in the production of that drug.

Just what I heard, I'm no chemist...

Yes i wanted to make a Marquis Reagent to test Ecstacy. A tester on the internet costs about $25 bucks for a little bottle. I was wondering if i made my own, i would safe alot of money and have more Marquis Reagent than if i bought it over the internet.

personally I hate ecstacy, that drug made me lose a (supposed friend) and an ex-g/f.. I hate it... they didn't die, but I wish he did... that's harsh huh? yeah well, he's a loser anyways

You are quite a cheapskate (<<$25 bucks for a little bottle>>) when you consider how much you pay for a little pill.

Try a chemical supply house. Try several. One for each component. And you'd better know what you're doing when you combine them.

Sulfuric acid can cause severe burns. The fumes are dangerous. Reread warlord's comments - he is correct.

Worst of all, you don't sound at all sure of what you are doing. You are likely to make something utterly useless as a testing compound compared with what you might buy (what might be useless anyway).

The items themselves are quite cheap. But you will have some big volume of each left over(compared to what you will need unless you are a major X dealer).
 
Worst thing that could happen? It could go boom and kill you, burn you, blind you, or kill other people. Pay the 25 bucks for the kit.
