I'd like to cut down the noise. I know I can change fans, install rheostats, blah, blah. But I just want to know where to get some sound proofing material.

I got mine from a foam distributer. The handle all carpet pad, dead cell foam etc. I went to the warehouse, and they let me get into the scrap pile. Got plenty for $4....I got som 1/2" dead cell foam (acoustic like) Makes quite a diff...

I've lined my case with one layer of this stuff and it helps cut down on vibration noises. More layers helps, but exponentially increases the weight of your case :D

Trust me on this one, haul out your yellow pages, look up sound, sound systems, sound pros, etc. Give anyone of them a call and ask if they have sonex or some other high quality acoustic foam, they should have anything from 4'x4'x4" to 2'x2'x1" panels. The thicker the foam, the better it does at reducing lower frequcnies, for case fans, 1" or 2" is plenty good. With sonex you do get quality stuff but its pricey, so if they have something that performs just about as good and is 50% less, get the cheaper stuff.
