Congrats!

I always thought the SV was a nice bike. Lots of aftermarket parts if you want to mod it some day. Have fun!

Yep I got one. A '99.

I have had it on a closed road radared at 197. There are sections of interstate in VT and northern NH where there is virtually no traffic at times. I have hit 185+ a few times there. Here in the Boston area, I don't do that. I do like waking up the next morning 😉

Is it possible to own a motorized vehicle and not top it out at least once?! :Q

Wow!! , I am way to scared to go that fast. I start getting jittery at anything over 100mph...although as Eli said I am sure
I will at least try it once. Mine should top out at 130 or so.

Of course I have to run it for 500 miles at under 5000rpm and then 500 miles at under 7500 rpm for engine break-in so
it will be awhile before I can try out anything near those speeds. Right now my max is 60mph @5k in 6th gear.

Hence the reason why I love the liter bikes...60mph @ 3800 rpms

Now if it would just stop raining...

I saw that video about a year ago or so. The general concensus over at sbn where I saw it is that it's not real. Look at how slow the center lines pass, how slow that turn around point passes. No way he's doing 205 at that point. Something's off with that video. Cool clip all the same though.

Because of the perspective of the camera, it's hard to tell. Seemed to me more like 170, but I really cant tell.

Hey all, I have not been posting at Anandtech at all since I got my bike but this thread is where it all began. I rolled it off the showroom floor with 0 miles on it on June 12th and as of today , July 26th I have just about 3100 miles on it. I have been having a blast!! Thanks again!

Finally got some pics of it, these were taken a few weeks ago near Mt. Baker in NW WA state.

Did you have a co-signer?

I got it from a local credit union, 72months at 4.5% fixed. No cosigner, I got the loan on my own.

Nice little bike.
I bet some real fairings would be nice for those long highway rides, eh? 🙂

Aftermarket
OEM

No, actually at first the wind bothered me but I began to enjoy it. 🙂 I put a windscreen on it and decided to take it off.

I dunno bro... might as well get a used bike. But that's me, i would probably finance the car if i really need it and can't pay it in full the first day but i wouldn't get a loan for a bike. That's just me though. I hate worrying about monthly payments. Try the R1 forums... maybe some people there could help you about Yamaha... good luck man. 😀 Watch out for cagers... 😉

Good advice.

I feel the same way.

Awesome, congrats on getting the loan approved!

Just remember to make your payments on time and your credit will drastically improve after it's paid off.

Your pics are beautiful...where are they taken? Oh yea the bike looks great too. All you need is aftermarket pipes...let that twin make some noise.
