Three years ago I could have gotten you one for free probably. I actually worked at a help desk at a John Deere Factory - John Deere Dubuque Works.

That was a BIIIIIIIG building. We had to use golf carts to get from division to division :)

Holy crap, I never thought I'd see one other farmer here, let alone two :).

I'm really going to miss not being home for the harvest this year. There's nothing like it at all. The whole air smells different. I hate living in the city, out in the country, I've got a buffer zone, in the city, my buffer zone consists of 2 feet outside my window before my neighbors yard begins :(

I will be home for planting in the spring though, which will be nice. There's nothing that makes you feel tiny like sitting out in the middle of a field and seeing the horizon on 3 sides of you. It's really amazing.

And as far as AC over JD, it's simple really. AC parts aren't a mint if you need them, and our AC tractor hasn't ever let us down. Our AC garden tractor is 100x the lawnmower you can buy from John Deer in a similar size.

Besides, everyone knows orange is WAY cooler then green and yellow ;)

I just thought of another way... The mall here has a stand out in the middle where they make custom hats with anything you want on them. I'm pretty sure they scan a design and the machine sews it on for you on whatever hat you want. That would give you the exact choice of colors for the hats, logos, etc and you'd know you're getting a perfect fit.

I'm not sure of pricing, but I figure if they have a place like that in Wisconsin, those same places were in the rest of the world 5 years ago.

And not to get off topic, but why do you prefer AC over JD, Zenmervolt?
Well, since I'm technically in Deere country (just try finding a red or an orange tractor in NW Ohio) it is a bit odd. My dad always used Simplicity garden tractors back when Allis-Chalmers owned Simplicity and a close friend's father farms exclusively with AC so despite my area I got used to AC. Still have a 25+ year old AC/Simplicity garden tractor that runs beautifully. If I had to pick a reason, I'd say that it's because while AC and JD are comparable in terms of heavy-duty true farm machinery, JD's small machinery is CRAP. AC, on the other hand actually pays attention to the quality of their small equipment. Probably though it's just that through a fluke of friendship and my father I got used to seeing AC machinery around.
