I need to know so I know the memory can handle a speed increase to 310MHz when I flash to a 9700 Pro BIOS. Anyone know?

I wont mind spending a little more cash if I can save $150 by flashing to a 9700 Pro. :)

I don't think there are ever guarantees when you're trying to push something beyond its theoritical limit. Even people who buy C1 stepping P4's, etc. I'm sure still accept the possibility that theirs may not be optimal for overclocking. I have always treated overclocking as something nice to do if it works, but no big deal if it doesn't. I wouldn't want to hedge all my system performance bets on whether it can be overclocked. But to answer your immediate question, I haven't seen any sites which are specifically marketing "overclocking-friendly" Radeons.

But here if you click on reviews more recent reviews say that the memory can only go up to 303.75MHz. :( Oh well, at least the core can still go as high.
