Where can I get 6 inch subwoofers?

Last summer I put a Sony X-Plod Head Unit (52wx4) and some 6 inch speakers in my truck. The speakers sound fine, but they don't have as much bass as I would like. It would be nice if I could swap out the speakers for subs, but I really don't have the money or the space for an amp. Do I really need one for just 6 inch subs? Recommendations on amps/subs would be appreciated, too.

the size of the drivers matter more than the power.
I run my home system with half a watt and your ears bleed

an amp isn't going to help much. 50w is plenty for most 6" speaks..

but yeah, 6" is more midrange than sub, generally..

get a pair (or just one) of 10s or 12s if you want bass. then you'll need the amp :)

The only thing is that I already have a place for 6" subs. If I find the money and get 10" or 12" subs I'll have to figure out how to fit them in the compartments under my rear seats. I'm not even sure if 8" subs will fit under there. Putting a sub box in the xtra cab isn't an option because I haul my friends around all the time.

Those 50w are peak, not RMS. His head unit is probably like 24w RMS. An amp would make a difference. Though, maybe not an appreciable one if he uses 6 inch speakers.

your 50x4 watts headunit is probably a peak rating, not rms. the non bullsh*t rating would probably be about 25watts.

I went out to my truck to measure and I can fit 2 10" subs in the compartments under the rear seats, and just about any amp under the front passenger seat. Any suggestions on a amp/sub package under $300?

My package in my earlier post is pretty good. HiFonics amps are supposed to be pretty good, I don't know about their woofers, but it's not like you're putting together an uber system or anything.
