thanks.. the dangerden one is cheaper at the dangerden website... but i'm looking for something cheaper.

I would prefer to have a full coverage block because these cards do run 24/7 under full load for distributive computing... and swiftech doesn't have a full coverage adapter for the MCW60 except for the 4890 and 4870... i'm not sure if the 4870 one will work for my card or not. I don't own any 4870s so It's not something I can test out. my three 4850s are single slot with the refence gpu coolers on them.

I don't think you're going to have much better luck than $99 for full coverage blocks for that card. It's getting old by now, so I doubt any new ones are even being manufactured, just old stock is available.

Full coverage blocks typically are $70-$120 anyway.

Have you checked ebay for some used ones? It's not like waterblocks really wear out anyway, provided they aren't abused.

4870 blocks would not work without some modification (if even possible).

Are your cards overheating or something with stock cooling?

I have one that is overheating badly.. getting well above 90C+ under load... the other two I have are fine at around 70C under full load.

I haven't found anything on ebay yet.. but i'm looking... except at work.. they like to block ebay at work for some reason

Are the card's fan profiles working properly doing GPGPU tasks and not 3d? Maybe the card's fans aren't ramping up to speed.

i'm thinking the fan is dieing on it... i can no longer adjust it through the catalyst control panel... it still crunches along doing milkyway@home...

and it's a hassle to get to this computer too, so I haven't pulled it out yet.

i pulled it out of its spot... the fan still works on it.

I have two cards in this machine.. one is a 4890 that works fine with catalyst control panel.. the 4850 does not.

i installed rivatuner and was able to increase the fan speed on the 4850...temps now down to 75C full load
weird thing is, riva tuner wasn't working with the 4890...

oh well.. sounds like I need to do a complete reinstall.

but... i'm still looking for some cheap 4850 waterblocks :)
