Where can I find small castors for my computer case?

Hello guys,
I got the Ultra Aluminum case and it came with 4 swing out feet. It's difficult to move the computer around on my carpet. So I would like to mount something like 1 inch castors under the case. Does anyone knows where I can find these castors? I see those nice silver cases with castors sold but I already got the case.

Thanks.

My P180's on a table, so I don't need them. I'm thinking of dropping it to the ground and putting casters on it. I reckon Home Depot/Lowe's or a hardware store has casters available. I got six large ones for a small sofa at HD, and do remember smaller ones being stocked.

McMaster - Carr: http://www.mcmaster.com the ones normally used for PC boxes are the ones that use 4 screws in a 1" square pattern. This is the one I use 24215T83 just enter the part number into the search field.

If your case material is weak (anything less than 1 mm steel), use fender washers or a drilled plate for backing.

The second link doesn't come through.

I get double-wheeled casters from Lawless Hardware -- which has an online store. The wheels are plastic, but the load-rating on several of them is more than sufficient for a PC. You can get them with brakes and the four-holed mounting plates. I just bought three sets of four for something like $15 -- a month ago.

These at Lawless seem the same as the ones at McMaster at under $3.00 a set instead of the over $7.00 as set that McMaster charges. I guess I'll be buying mine at Lawless from now on. So $12. a set for the ones with the Lian Li name on them is absurd.

As was said above, Home Depot, Lowes, and similar are potential local suppliers.

I bought casters at sears hardware for an old computer. You can also buy them at Lowes or Home Depot most of the time. If you're taking the time to install them you should probably go all out and buy some washers to help distribute the force.

It worked pretty well on that old, cheap full tower case I had.

Sure, but why would anyone want such dinky wheels - not good for anything but hard surfaces...

You don't have to cut up your case. Just buy a board (like a shelf board). Cut off the one end to make it the right length. Mount the casters to the board instead. The small ball casters are much better on carpet than the plastic-wheel type, since they don't sink in as much.

If you use swivel casters, don't put them so close together that the platform becomes unstable. Even the very edges of a computer are too narrow for safety. Should the casters swivel toward the middle, the whole rig can tip over.

I'm glad someone pointed this out, Casters don't work on carpet. You can get carpet gliders and attatch to the bottom of your case feet. The larger the area of the gliders the easier it will move.
Edit- mounting these to a peice of ply or shelving material will allow you to use them on another pc and also give better air flow if you have bottom mount fans like I do.

The Lian-Li V- series casters come with black rubber bands that cover the aluminum surface of each wheel and are very effective on carpeting. I've had no trouble with them.

I would try the hardware store, they usually have them advertised for toolboxes. or if you have an old rubbermaid cart.

Home Depot or a good secondhand store. there's got to be some standardization
for that size casters.

My addtronics server tower case uses casters normally right under the tower, but the luxury set I have mounts on rails about 5" wider than the the case and the rails mount to the PC case. Slides easy on carpet and tile and very stable.

Stability isn't really an issue for most that have their case against their desk unless they have jumping pets or drunk chicks hanging out.
