Can anyone point me to an online vendor that sell the EG-258-VE and EG-285-VE powersupplies?

Thanks!

Thanks, but they don't seem to have the 250 watt or 285 watt version with the dual fan setup.

Hi Russ.

I want the lower wattage for two reason, 1) I'm not overclocking a powerhog (I've got a CuMine non cb0 600 overclocked to 800 and a nearly minimal setup) and 300 and above just seems wasteful IMO 2) I want to crimp every cent that I can, while trying to get my system to run as sliently as possible (the Silencer from PC Power & Cool at 285 watts costs about 99 bucks, and I don't want to spend that).

From what I've seen of the VE series from Enermax that gets my attention is the dual fan configuration, and from what I've heard, they're gentle on the ears.

Just buy any supply and put a quiet fan in. Got a 92mm panaflo in my no-name and it's not silent but you certainly can't hear it over hard disks and stuff.

You might want to look around for other vendors selling the Enermax 400+ Watts. Plycon seems to be a bit high on their pricing when it comes to the Enermax (and some other things). I saw some cheaper prices for the same PS at other places. If I run across them again, I will let you know.

Also, Compucheap's price on the Antec 300W is way too high ($50+). Go to egghead. They have the exact same PS for $34.99 plus $7 shipping.

Thanks MagnusPAH, I've Emailed Plycon, but they don't offer the lower wattage versions that I want.

The Enermax 450W is your best bid if you want to run quietly. The Enermax has thermostatically controlled fan which runs faster (that means noisier) when the PS gets warm. For the same amount of power the computer system draws from the PS, a higher power rated PS will run cooler, which allows its fan to rotate slower making less noise.

The Enermax 450 is available for $70 plus shipping and is a much higher performaer than the PC Power and Cooling Silencer 275 for about the same price.

thermite88, I might have to go to the higher wattage route! Enermax's distributor on the west coast, Maxpoint, hasn't replied and it looks less likely every day that they will. I really wanted the dual fan 285. :(
