Where can I find CNR cards?

All these new motherboards have CNR (Communications Network Riser) slots on them. But where are the NIC's, Modems, etc that were promised? I cannot find them anywhere!

Actually, CNR/AMR was designed more so for the OEM resellers. It allows them to package inexpensive hardware to reduce costs. However, I really don't see your need for it, as most CNR/AMR slots are shared with a PCI slot, so it isn't a total waste. Chances are you won't find these regularly available be themselves.

Good luck, I;ve yet to see an CNR/AMR card available yet. Even the OEM's don't seem to be using them form what I've seen/heard.

What a waste! Why did they waste my PCB space with it!

I work for a wholesaler, we sell risor modems, why use them? beacuse they are cheaper than anyhting else, dunno if they work well but they are dirt cheap.

If it's dirt cheap, it's a winmodem, you don't want that. Same with audio, it would just be a risor to utilize the onboard audio dsp probably.

i want a CNR nic...ive got a slot that can only be used by CNR and would liek to free up a PCI slot...dont see one in that link posted...

I personally think that more motherboards should start coming w/ the built-in NIC's (port right above the USB ports). I'd like that MUCH more than this built-in audio that they all have been building in right now. It would save a PCI slot and I see a lot more people utilizing onboard ethernet than onboard audio.
