Just bought Bose acostimass 10 speakers but am freaked by the puny speaker wire and connectors bose gave with these speakers. Are there any after market speaker adapters to allow onee to use non Bose 12gage speaker wire?

you can check Good Guys, they carry all monster cable products

Or check with bose directly; they might sell upgraded cables..

You might want to take it up w/ RadioShack or Audio Masters (if you have one in your area) about this situation... I'm sure that the manual included an additional purchase insert of somesort where you can buy BOSE endorsed products - you might just want to stick w/ those.

Or take it up w/ the Bose tech supp. people - you don't want to mess w/ speakers that depend on the wave frequency as the primary source of its "great" sound.

Good luck

I am curious to know why you went Bose. I hope it is for aesthetics because my RadioShack speakers sound much better and cost about 1/17. Any serious audiophile will tell you that Bose speakers are not very good at reproducing sound.

Well, they're only bad when you go w/ the deeper thumping base type sounds - lets take the wave radio as an example. It is great at producing classical music, but horrible as a hip-hop box. Why? It's because BOSE feels the need to customize everything their way, thus not allowing much freedom on the user's part to tweak to their heart's content :(

I personally think that BOSE are over-rated as well... only becase of HYPE - otherwise, they're great speakers if they aren't given so much exposure by those who advertise them and those who gawk at them :p

Radio Shack speakers though??? Hmm... I wouldn't go so much to make that comparison, j0lly ;)

GG,

I have these RadioShacks and I demoed a pair of Bose 201s. My speakers sound much better. I even mixed and matched electronis but to no avail. I also have a Wave Radio collecting dust in my closet because no one (knowledgeable) will buy it from me. :( Bose is highly overrated.

My misunderstanding there j0lly - forgive me, I thought that since we were on the subject of the acostimass that we were speaking of home theater speakers. Although I can understand the correlation that you would be making. I personally have yet to have had a chance to listen to these revered ;) radio shack speakers... but I shall take a listen next time I'm there! I'm still skeptical (btw) ;)

The moral of my story is that you could own speakers that sound X number of times better than Bose and still pay far less.

I was curious how many anti-Bose statements would be here and completely miss the point of the post. It sure is popular to hate Bose nowadays; almost an induction ceremony into the high culture of high end audio. lol. My Bose are great at Bass (although the sub is rather large ;) ) and are excellent at reproducing sound. I know what I am talking about. My other sytem for home theater from MK Sound and SVS Subwoofer is worth over 10,000 (just the speakers) S-150 THX ULTRA System plus some extra subs from SVS.

Unless X is somehow represented as a negative number (real number of sorts) thereby destroying your theory! But I get the point, I personally wouldn't go out and buy BOSE, which is NOT to say that they aren't great speakers! ;)

But what about this?? what if in fact, j0lly you have some form of a disorder... where you think what you're hearing sounds good, but in reality sounds bad. Much like a pimp who thinks he looks good (through self-perception) but is actually laughed at by girls? Just merely bringing up the idea that sound is reproduced in one's ears, therefore we are the ones making the last judgement, and it may sound good to you/me, but may sound bad to, oh, lets say. GoldenBear (he never does like anything anyways) ;)

i'd solder it.

wait... theres no banana plugs
or bi-wiring posts
i'll bet its those spring loaded things
might as well use lamp cord from home depot

you guys talk about bose being overrated, how bout monster cable

theres big debate over at audioreview about whether its any better than lamp cord
i'm not kidding.
