Where can I find a DVI to VGA adapter?

Can't really find any stores that carry this 🙁

Need something better than generic (decent quality). My PNY Ti4400 didn't come with one. It has a VGA out and a DVI out. I assume with the adapter I would be able to hook 2 monitors up, and use it like an extended desktop (like I have been doing with my TNT card and my main card). Is this correct on the nView thing?

Something like that that comes with other cards (like the Gainward. Anyone know?

Edit: Would Office Depot have something like this?

I got mine at Microcenter B&M, it is a "QVS " brand and the package calls it a "VGA to DVI flat panel display video adapter hd15f/dvi m" part# cf15d-fma $11.99+tax

Thanks for the post. No Microcenter here 🙁

The other question I had (cause I'm not up to speed on DVI) is that do I need an Analog DVI or a Digital DVI (and how the hell can you have analog dvi? That doesn't even make sense). Only ask because one site I found that had them said that analog and digital dvi connectors aren't the same and to make sure you order the right adapter.

Most importantly, will nView do what I'm wanting to do? Basically be an extended desktop like I have been using. Like open IE and maximize it on the other screen while I type on this one.

??? Someone is confused, DVI is DIGITAL video interface, an analog lcd would need no adapter to plug in to a standard video card 😕

Your other question, yes that is one of the things you can do, you may run into some tricky issues if you have an nvidia card, if you want to use nvreffix to fix the games refresh rate problem then you have to make sure the second monitor can use the same refresh rates as the main monitor, it is because of the way nvreffix fixes the problem, you end up with only a few choices for the refresh rate and if you try to use a crappy old monitor for the second display then it gets a bit tricky to get it right, also when you boot the second monitor (the one on the dvi port) is the one that will display the bios screen and boot up info, then when windows loads it switches over to the main monitor, at least that is how it works for me.

When I play Q3 and leave the second monitor on the color and brightness (maybe gamma) goes wacky on the second monitor, like if Q3 ever crashed on ya and your desktop is all washed out looking.

<< Here you go. $6+shipping from MWave. >>

Thanks. I really found like 10 places that had it just a few minutes after posting this thread. Always happens 🙁

Shipping kills the mwave deal, as do the other sites. May be the way I go if I can't find one at OD or something. I'd like the ATI one as at least I know it's not generic.

The secondary monitor is a viewsonic A90, so it's pretty new. Both monitors (21" p810 viewsonic is the main) were 1600x1200x32.

I'd like my regular monitor on the VGA and the secondary on the DVI, though I guess I could switch the cables, not a big deal. Just want the main one for big stuff and the 2nd one for holding research articles while I type on the main screen. Will free up a PCI slot where my 2nd card is now, and will make room for another PCI slot cooler 😛

The monitor that you are using now, on the vga port, will be the primary monitor when windows loads after the computer boots, it is just during boot up that the one on the DVI port will be the primary.

I play around with making web pages and one of the things I like to do is to have the page I am working on loaded in internet explorer on the second monitor while I am making changes to it in the html editor on the main monitor, then I can just refresh the page and see the changes and make sure the page loads correctly.

Excellent Slacker, thanks for the tips. Just a little leery of nView considering how well XP handled it on it's own (did what I needed it to do with just one click). Again, appreciate the help.
