The only problem with the HP laptop above is that it uses the 1GHz version, which can turbo up to 1.4Ghz. I think anything less than 1.5Ghz might just be too slow.

Yea, didnt notice that. All the new model names have me seriously confused. I would not consider the 1ghz model except maybe in a tablet.

My bad , the HP uses Temash , but the MSI is specified at 1.5g
with either a E1 2C or a A4 4C.

UMPCPortal did a number of tests with the AMD Temash quad-core A6-1450 and when utlizing 1.4Ghz turbo mode it approaches the performance level of Intel SB/IB i3 which cost several times more.

The Jaguar Temash/Kabinis also support SATA and when the reviewer adds a SSD as seen in the video, the performance is approaching Intel ultrabook level. The video shows about 486 MB/s R, 388 MB/s W. In 4K mode, it is 16.9 MB/s R and 35.5 MB/s W.

Assuming it is aggressive with Turbo, it probably is ok @ 1.4ghz Turbo. That being said, I would want the battery life to be quite good.

It is amazing to think that Jaguar is now more powerful than K8, clock for clock. At least, as far as I can make out, it is. Bobcat was already faster than the Athlon XP, clock for clock.

And the GPU, near as I can tell, is faster than the 9800XT but not quite as fast as an X850 (just going on raw fillrate basically). Although I think it will far more shader power than an X850.
