Check the spanish novel called "Manual"

But from my totally uneducated, never touched a Toyota guess, I say behind the front wheels or in front of the rear, like most cars. Except this damn jetta, arg, jacks near the axle.

There are a couple little grooves where the jack stand fits. One before the back wheels, and one behind the front wheels.

But yes, the manual is your friend.

If his manual is like my maxima's manual it will not specify the lift points though it may at least specify the jack points. vi_edit is right about the jack points, but the lift points you could find a toyota camry forum or see if there is a place pretty center in the car on both front and back that looks like it could take the pressure of a jack to lift up either end without buckling :)

hmm...i'm assuming those jack points are the same for your maxima, right? My parents are driving their '93 maxima from texas to nj, and i'm going to try to do some regular maintainance on it (oil change, and the struts need to be changed...)...of course, I know absolutely nothing about cars, but I do want to learn, so I ordered myself a '93-'98 chilton's manual offa half.com ;)

You can't be serious. If you look under the car you'll see a seam that runs all between the wheels. It sticks down maybe 1/4 to 3/8 of an inch. There are two areas, right behind the front wheel and in front of the rear, that have a bit of extra metal on that seam. Place the jack there. The manual does tell you where to place the jack; they all do. If you can't locate these points, don't use the jack!

i know those places..they are mostly universal for all cars...i guess i wasn't being clear enough. i meant from the front or back (ie both front wheels or both rear wheels off the ground)

no, that's only for unibody constructed cars.

any car with a chassis will be different, and you'll have to find the jack points by actually looking (if you know what you're doing) or looking in a manual.
