i don't understand why anyone would want a 19" LCD. unless its only marginally more expensive than a 17" there is no reason to get one over a 17", unless you're completely blind.

You snooze you looze

Not really. deals like this will be coming around a lot. I'd bet to say that Dell prices these monitors high assuming they'll have rebates, which to us makes it a fantastic deal.

In either case, you shouldn't have to wait more than a month or two.

I don't see why everyone thinks this is so great. I don't even get why Anandtech gave it such a good review. When I ordered mine, it had excellent color reproduction and everything like that, but once things started moving, ghosting was insanely obvious. I would be scrolling down a black and white web page, and the whole screen would turn green.

I agree, for the most part.

I have a 1704 and a 1905, and though they run at the same resolution I much prefer the 1905. Everything is just a bit bigger --it's nice. If your cheap, go 17, if you are blind go 19! 🙂

😛

Good, I thought I was the only one who bought 7.

This is a great deal isn't it? You did PM it against Victoria's Secret, right?

VS? Damn. Forgot. Thanks for the reminder.

lol... I don't think VS carries anything in size 17 😛

Someone had posted in another thread somewhere that there was supposed to be an upcoming shortage of certain LCD components that were going to slow production adn drive up LCD display costs. Maybe this is what we are seeing???

Edited to add link to thread.

Maybe yours is defective?? Just because yours sucks doesn't mean every single one they made does that as well. :cookie:

Yeah, seeing a green color when scrolling definitely is not normal even if they used other components.

I ONLY want a 19" due to the insanely tiny text that is displayed on the 17" and 20".. For my 77 year old father this is critical. He runs his 19" CRT monitor currently at 800x600 because he cannot see anything smaller. I would not be surprised if LCD makers get hit with a lawsuit citing the Americans with Disabilities Act lol..

Anyway I scoured the Web looking for a 1024x768 19" and found an older Gateway model, but passed on it cause its other specs were poor, but it would have been ideal for my father..

You can change the DPI of any monitor which will keep the resolution the same but increase the size of nearly everything. Check out the settings->advanced->general under Display properties. Might help when you are using a 17" monitor.

Just a thought...

Well, I checked on the Dell forums, and apparently other people were also having the green black-to-white ghosting. It seemed to be a problem with the first revision of the monitor (A00? I forgot). I didn't want to replace it and get another of the same revision over and over again. I even went to the Video forums on Anandtech and everyone agreed that the 1905 has horrible ghosting.
