I don't see any 7900GT for $299 msrp price
many e/r-tailers don't have it in stock and with ETA up to 4/15
where other is priced $360+ and even $399

what's going on?

tight 7900gt supply? or high demand?

what do you think?

I got mine in my hands a week after it was released into the market. Bought it from ZZF.

But of course without taking overclocking into equation a $299 X1800XT is a good 10-15% faster, while offering superior IQ. X1900XT cards can also be had for $435. It would not be a smart purchasing decision to buy an Nvidia card unless overclocking or SLI setup were involved. With respect to 7900GTX, it isn't even a competitor with X1900XT at this price though.

7900GTX < X1900XT
in Far Cry, FEAR, Splinter Cell: CT, COD2. That's not something that should be expected for a card that costs $70 more.

Nowhere close to twice the power usage. Definitely louder though (I'd get aftermarket cooling for any ATI X18xx or X19xx series card).

I dunno- been reading a lot of threads about the 7900GT's not throttling down so the fan is always running on high and quite loud. Also a "lot" of threads about both the GT and GTX's artifacting right out of the box. They do use less power though and don't create as much heat from what I hear. And Nvidia can sell every single one they make because they priced them(GT) awesome and great marketing. Nvidia just needs to put the GTX cooler on the GT's and step on the gas at the manufacturing plant.

Louder than what? I think with either card many would want an aftermarket cooler, but I am sensitive to vid card fan noise. I am still planning on water, hoping it will be good for a couple of generations.

edit: Actually I have always ended up buying an aftermarket cooler - could swear those stock fans get louder as time goes on. Or I have figured out the pitch and listen for it.

1 year, the only qualm I have with ATI. However, PowerColor has a lifetime warranty. Also, technically, strapping on an Accelero voids warranty. EVGA FTW, I wish they made ATI cards.
