It's getting about that time to be looking at a used (or new if the price is solid enough) purchase. When is the best time of the year to by? I heard November, but I would like to know if someone could tell me more directly. I know that private sellings can come in at any time and I keep a close eye on them, but my purchase will ultimately most likely be from a dealership, so I was simply curious about the best time. Thanks!

It really depends on inventory and how specific you want to be about what you're buying. For used cars they don't swing in price as much depending on the time of year, it's a used car if it sits for an extra month or two it's not going to change the fact that it's a used car. New cars on the other hand start to get cheaper when the next year's models start coming out. If you can find last year's model on the lot you can usually get a better deal than on this year's model. If you aren't picky about what you want you can keep on waiting and checking out 2009's. With car sales the way they've been I'm sure that there will be 2009's on the lot in early 2010. The issue is though that you're stuck with whatever is in inventory. If you want something specific you'll be out of luck.

Any time after Christmas but before Jan 1st, preferably on a weekday when it's raining or snowing out.
