Forget it. This is still Jiveware! version 2. I checked the first file setup.exe and the size & date corresponded to an old one I already had dated 3/19/00.

Anand's webnews recently posted a rumour that Live!ware 3 for WIN2K would be released this (?) month.

Guys, Liveware! 3.0 for Win2k was supposed to be released mid-May according to SBLive.com....it is now the end of June and nothing has hit the scene. I am thinking that they will just release Liveware! 4.0 for all platforms.

Any thoughts?

I have to boot to 98SE if I want AC-3 passthru which blows !


I just got off the phone with Creative tech support and none of the press releases indicate Liveware! 3.0 being available. They also claim there is no 3.0 floating around.

I had the same thought as John, they will probable bring out Liveware 4 for 98 and NT at the same time.

If you hit some of the fan sites, there are docs explaining how to modify the LiveWare 3.0 to work in win2k. sorry I don't have a link, but I haven't done it myself, only seen it up there.

Creative posted that Liveware 3 had been delayed until June, they just never got around to updating the webpage. Last week they announced they had just gotten the drivers back from WHQL certification, so they should be expected within the next week or 2. Liveware 4 isn't expected until November.

Thanks to Mike for sending me the follow from Creative´s newsgroup:

The drivers have been received from MS. At this point, it looks like they may be posted some time next week (probably towards the end of the week). This is kind of lousy timing since we are going into a 4 day holiday weekend and won't be back until the middle of the week, but the light is at the end of the tunnel.

i guess in running 2.0 in win2k and everything seems fine...running 3.0 in win98 and can tell no difference

More environmental effects, more tools, and the card can do more things at once, since the drivers open up that part of the hardware.

Liveware 3.0 or 4.0 for Win 2K will allow AC-3 passthru like the 9x version does. I have to boot to 98SE to watch a DVD in Ac-3 !
