When you're driving, do you want to get where you are going?

because it sure as shit seems that a lot of people don't. they are just out there lolly-gaggin going below the speed limit not paying attention to anything on the road. they don't know how to stay in a consistent speed varying by like 20mph when behind them. i mean i know i live in the part of the country with the worst drivers in the country, but damn when i'm driving somewhere, my goal is pretty much to get there as quick as possible but safely.

think bad drivers are the thing that grind my gears the most.

Yea let's drive 60mph in the passing left lane when there are three other perfectly good lanes there for them to be slow

I'll get to where I need to go as efficiently as possible when I'm driving my boring gas sipper. I take the longer back roads when I'm in the fun car.

No, I like to score all those points in Waze and run over dogs and cats as an extra bonus.

One of my biggest peeves is when someone uses the HOV lane as their personal cruising-at-the-limit lane.

Also:
- not using turn signals (especially capable drivers - they may as well be saying F U I do whatever I want)
- car changing into your lane ahead of you so they can be first at the red light, when you had to make a right and they're now blocking you.
- cars in both lanes matching speeds
- right lane hoggers when cars are merging onto the highway
- cars that HAVE to get into the middle or left lane and make you brake, when there was nobody ahead of them in the right lane to begin with
- cars that HAVE to merge ahead of you in highway traffic when there was obvious clear space behind you

F U PEOPLE!

Herd mentality. Everyone paces each other. Herd mentality is used by stupid people, science has proved that.

Good list here. Covers most of my pet peeves.

Another one is when some hotshot is changes lanes so much by swerving in and out, that their turn signal usage is pretty much pointless. They get like a fraction of a second lit up, and sometimes they have the wrong signal on b/c they are going left/right so quickly.

Its fairly frequent that, on my drive home, about 35 cars will be stuck behind some asshole going 45 in a 55. I've always just wondered if they don't notice everyone backed up behind them or just don't give a shit

I wonder the same thing, whether the people that do that type of shit (i.e. poking in the left passing lane on a freeway, or just poking on a two-lane road) are just plain assholes or they're unaware of what's going on around them. I'm sure there's some of the former, but I think most people are just simply unaware of their environment. They are doing and thinking about everything else BUT driving.

To answer the OP's question, yeah I wanna get where I'm going and don't fuck around. I don't mind if others are going a little slower, as long as they're not being idiots about it.

dang man, if you think driving out here is slow...then I dare you to move to the west coast. 😀 It's the exact opposite type of bad drivers.

To me, people here are insane/crazy but generally rather focused in where they are going. Back in norcal, it was primarily slow, unaware, completely ambivalent and imo, far more dangerous type of drivers.

surface streets are impossible to get through here, though. Expressways are terrible in the Bay Area, but you could get into and off of them with little problem. Trying to get anywhere within the DC area is god damn suicide.

It seems no one drives with purpose. It's annoying as fuck.

Agent Smith: But, as you well know, appearances can be deceiving, which brings me back to the reason why we're here. We're not here because we're free. We're here because we're not free. There is no escaping reason; no denying purpose. Because as we both know, without purpose, we would not exist.

[Several Agent Smith Clones walk in]

Agent Smith Clone 1: It is purpose that created us.

Agent Smith Clone 2: Purpose that connects us.

Agent Smith Clone 3: Purpose that pulls us.

Agent Smith Clone 4: That guides us.

Agent Smith Clone 5: That drives us.

Agent Smith Clone 6: It is purpose that defines us.

Agent Smith Clone 7: Purpose that binds us.

Agent Smith: We are here because of you, Mr Anderson. We're here to take from you what you tried to take from us.

There are a lot of things in life that are annoying as fuck.

People driving below the speed limit in the passing lane is definitely one of them.

Fortunately I don't have to leave the house (work from home) often but I do occasionally hit the highway and damn there are some slow and very stupid people out there. Every time I get on the road I wonder how there aren't MORE accidents.

I'm sure it's like this everywhere and probably much worse in some places.

Personally I like to get where I'm going in the shortest amount of time possible but I don't engage in dangerous driving to do it. If I want/need to drive slow for some reason I'll be in the right lane.

Here in this small town of 50,000. I call that small since I'm from California. We have no less than four car accidents/day. I know because I have been a police scanner enthusiast for at least twenty years. Got my first scanner at the pawn shop in high school. Been a member at radioreference.com since 2004. Was called Trunkedradio.net. Now I'm starting to get into creating an ADS-B receiver so I can pipe that data to ADS-B Exchange.

Anyway... This town drives like shit! LOL

It was bad before smartphones, but now the people who were disinterested drivers before are absolutely maddening.

Then, you have the people that drive in the fast lane with their mobile homes... Or tow shits...

Tell me about it! As soon as they're at the stop light out pops the smartphone. WTF are they looking at that's so important?!

I have to laugh every time I go to a restaurant. I see people glued to their smartphones and not even eating. In fact, I stand outside the Chilies having a smoke and I count one after another enter with smartphone in hand as if the damn thing was attached to their hand.

I have a smartphone. But it's just a convince to look shit up on when I'm out of reach of my computer or to use it for that one purpose Gram Bell intended; to make a damn phone call! LOL

....also the few Apps I have are nice. FTP App to access my FTP, Starchart App, a satellite viewing App and to look at ADS-B Exchange or use the Flightradar24 App. When I first got my phone I was like, yep! There really is an App for that.

Light turns green. No movement.
There's no horn from the person behind either; they're texting too.

We need self-driving cars because no one wants to do anything about these addicts, probably because the people pushing for or making the laws know full well that it might cause them headaches too.
"Everyone else is the problem. I can juggle texting about puppies and driving safely, so I'm not dangerous; I wouldn't want to get pulled over and try to explain how darn good I am at texting and driving."
